Web Filtering at Home

CCS TECHNOLOGY HAS ADDED ANOTHER LAYER OF INTERNET FILTERING TO CHROMEBOOKS WHEN STUDENTS ARE OFF CAMPUS. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE FILTERING AND MONITORING THAT WAS ALREADY IN PLACE.

With this addition, Internet filtering will now be the same whether the student is on or off campus. However, when a student is off campus, the login process will be different. Instructions are provided below:

HOW CAN I UPDATE THE CHROMEBOOK?

If you are getting a message that the Chrome browser needs to be updated, try these steps:

  1. Click the 3 dots on the top right hand side of the chrome browser.

  1. Go down to Help (near the bottom)
  2. Select About Google Chrome from the list
  3. The screen changes and you’ll see an option to “Check for Updates”
  4. It should start installing the update. You will notice it starts at 0% and works through 100%
  5. Once the update has installed, restart the device

WHAT CAN I DO IF THE CHROMEBOOK WON'T TURN ON?

Sometimes the Chromebook will go to sleep and appear to not be able to be turned back on.

Please try the steps below to help wake the Chromebook up if you experience this issue at home.

  • Plug the Chromebook into the charger
  • Hold the refresh button (top row, looks like a circle with an arrow) and the power button for 10-15 seconds
  • Double tap the power button
  • The Chromebook should come on at this point. One last step to try if it does not come on is to close the Chromebook lid and open it again.

If you find that these steps don't work for you, contact your child's teacher so that they can help get a Teachnology Help Ticket created so that we can work on getting a replacement available.
